More Knee

Last week I had an MRI on the feisty left knee. There are several tears to the meniscus and as my orthopedic doctor's physician assistant told me, the MRI showed us much more than we had expected. Not good news. My main concern is the horizontal tear which according to WebMD is tough to repair.

Arthroscopic surgery is schedule for January 16. The PA said that it younger folks the surgeon might put in some stitches. However for us older folks (cough, cough...ok 66 is older) the procedure is to  scrape away the bad areas and then tuck the flap under to stop my knee from "popping in and out".

At this point I am not sure about my hiking future and only surgery and time will tell.
